About me
I began my career as a youth worker moving on to community mental work and then trained and qualified as a Social Worker. This led onto Training and working as a counsellor within the field of addiction and then to working in secure environments.
I have over 20 years experience working with young people and adults and now work in my own private practice and work as a clinical supervisor and consultant at the Salvation Army and Sexual Assault and Abuse Support Centre.
I am an accredited counsellor and clinical supervisor. My core training is Psychodynamic. I am also qualified in other therapeutic approaches.
I am actively involved in continuing my professional personal development.
I consider counselling to be an opportunity to explore where you are and where and how you would like to be. This could involve looking at past experiences or managing the here and now.
The way in which I approach my work has evolved from my wide variety of training and life experience. My work is mainly psychodynamic. I believe that this way of working helps us to learn from the past in order to understand the present. My approach is holistic and therefore I work with other therapeutic approaches as well, such as CBT, Person centred, mindfulness and stress management.
I can offer a safe calm environment in which you can take your first steps towards your own inner strength. I offer a confidential non judgmental space where you can explore things which are important to you.
